Who else has this conversation with themselves every morning?

People often say to me you are so motivated, I wish I could have your motivation….

The truth is, I’m not motivated, most mornings I wake up and the last thing I want to do it work out and for years I wouldn’t bother, I’d skip it and stay in bed.

Why? Because I didn’t want to make the trip to the gym, get stuck in rush hour traffic, spend 2 hours for a 30 min session. And the thought of working out was “f*** that!”

Then I came across home workouts that could be done in half an hour from home. Saving myself 1.5hrs and all the bother of having to head to the gym.

I’m still not motivated to workout everyday but I’ve eliminated a lot of the obstacles/excuses that allowed me to skip it. I’ve also made it a habit, it’s just something I do and part of my morning routine like brushing my teeth. I’ve also learnt even when I don’t want to workout, usually by the time I’ve finished, I’m feeling more alive and energised which has a positive impact on the rest of my day.

Building that habit didn’t happen overnight though, it took time and I didn’t do it alone. I surrounded myself with others in an accountability group. People who wouldn’t let me listen to my own excuses.
